Anton Garmoza
I am a lawyer specializing in international commercial and investment arbitration. I act as counsel in arbitration proceedings and I also accept appointments as arbitrator.

Prior to starting my own practice I worked as an in-house lawyer and as an associate at two international law firms. As a member of a special task force I also advised the Russian Ministry of Justice in connection with the largest investment treaty arbitration in history and the related litigation proceedings across multiple jurisdictions.

I am qualified to practice law in Russia and is admitted to the bar in the State of New York. I am a graduate of New York University (NYU) School of Law and also hold a Ph.D. in Private International Law from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

Together with my team of colleagues qualified in various jurisdictions around the world I can competently handle any dispute, regardless of what law the underlying contract is governed by.

Artificial Intelligence consulting
  • Besides international law and arbitration, my areas of academic interest include legal philosophy (jurisprudence) and ethics of artificial intelligence (AI). I am currently conducting research on the application of AI in dispute resolution. I am happy to offer consulting services in this field
EXPERIENCE
My representative international arbitration matters:
The "Yukos" case
Advised the Russian Ministry of Justice in connection with the arbitrations on the basis of the Energy Charter Treaty initiated by the former shareholders of "Yukos" oil company. The overall amount in dispute exceeded USD 60 billion.
Business centre construction
Represented a major Russian construction company in an arbitration against a Chinese contractor regarding construction of a business-center in Kazakhstan. Arbitration Rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC). Applicable law – Russian. The amount in dispute – approximately USD 100 million.
Shareholder dispute with a state agency
Represented a French developer and asset manager in the real estate and hospitality market in a dispute with a state agency arising out of a shareholders' agreement. ICC Arbitration Rules.
Powerplant construction
Represented a Russian power generating company in a dispute with a Spanish contractor over construction of a heat and electricity generating power plant in Russia. ICC Arbitration Rules.
Liquified natural gas (LNG) supply
Represented an Austrian trader in a dispute with a Mongolian energy company relating to the supply of liquified natural gas. SCC Arbitration Rules.
Anthracite coal supply
Represented a Bulgarian trading company in a dispute with a Spanish buyer over supply of anthracite coal. Swiss Rules. Applicable law – Swiss.
Road-building machinery supply
Represented a Russian distributor of road-building machinery in a dispute with a German supplier. SCC Arbitration Rules.
Airport equipment distribution
Represented a Russian distributor of airport equipment in a dispute arising from a distribution agreement with a Swiss supplier. Swiss Rules.
Investment Claim
Represented a Canadian oil and natural gas exploration and production company in a dispute with a state corporation arising out of a natural gas sale and purchase agreement. ICSID Arbitration.
Natural gas price dispute
Represented a Russian natural gas producer in a gas price dispute with a state company. SCC Arbitration Rules.
Investment treaty claim
Advised an Eastern European investor on a claim against a CIS state based on a bilateral investment treaty. UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.
Enforcement of an arbitral award
Represented an Austrian manufacturer in the successful enforcement of an arbitral award in Russia.
High-rise building construction
Acted as counsel to one of the largest Russian construction companies in a dispute with a French contractor. ICC Arbitration Rules.
Sunflower oil supply
Represented a Russian company in a dispute with a UAE trader concerning supply of sunflower oil at the Appeal Stage of the FOSFA Arbitration. English law.
Licence agreement dispute
Advised a Russian film distributor in connection with a dispute against a Spanish production company arising out of a licence agreement for distribution of TV series. WIPO Arbitration Rules. French law.
Corporate dispute
Advising a Russian oil company in connection with a dispute against a Dutch joint venture partner arising out of a shareholders' agreement. SIAC Arbitration Rules. Dutch law.
Equipment supply
Advising a Russian beverage manufacturer in connection with a dispute against an Irish company arising out of the distribution agreement. ICAC Rules. English law.
Storage facility construction
Represented a Russian company active in transportation and logistics of mineral fertilisers in a dispute with a Spanish contractor related to construction of a storage facility. SCC Arbitration Rules. Russian law.
Equipment supply
Representing a Russian beverage manufacturer in connection with a dispute against a German supplier over supply of the equipment for the production line. SCC Arbitration Rules. Swedish law.

  • Vladislav Rodionov
    Senior Associate
    Vladislav is an associate with 5 years of PQE based in Paris. His practice concentrates on investment-treaty arbitration, international commercial arbitration and sport arbitration.

    He has acted in proceedings conducted under the arbitration rules of the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (the ICAC at the RF CCI) as well as UNCITRAL.

    Vladislav holds an LL.M. in international dispute settlement (MIDS) from the Geneva University Law School and Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and a Master of Laws and Bachelor's Degree from Moscow State University of International Relations.

    He has worked in Russia, Switzerland and France on international matters from various sectors including oil and gas, banking and finance, energy and construction.

    Artem is an associate specialising in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration.

    Prior to joining Garmoza, Artem worked at a leading Russian law firm. His practical experience includes representing a major Russian export company in an arbitration under the SCC rules in a dispute arising out of a construction contract, a Russian brewery in an arbitration under the SCC rules in a dispute arising out of a supply contract and representing a high-net worth individual in connection with foreign proceedings.

    Artem holds a bachelor's degree in law from the Moscow State University of International Relations, and he is currently working on a master's degree in law at the same university. During his studies, he completed a semester at the Free University of Berlin where he gained practical experience of working in the German legal system, and completed various additional courses with a focus on international arbitration.
